3. From over a hill, the Outlaws arrive at an exclusive Heli-pad, to travel for 20 minutes by Helicopter to an historic ranch.

Day Three

1. Outlaws enjoy a cowboy meal of Indian Bannock and Canadian Bacon cooked on an open fire. The relaxed atmosphere will include cowboy poetry readings and after breakfast there is an introduction to “Buck-a-Roo Wrestling”, one of the oldest pastimes of the cattle drive cowboys.

2. Outlaws are in the saddle, to experience and learn the “cowboy arts” of working and driving cattle. They are introduced to methods of sorting, penning, & cutting cattle, and are taught an understanding of colour & brand identification of cattle herds.

3. After working up a powerful hunger and thirst, a country lunch is provided at the cattle corrals.

4. Outlaws will learn more of the art of harnessing and driving a team of horses. In the round pen, horsemanship skills and technique are assessed and discussed. This is to assure that the guest-outlaws are ready for the robbery and are supplied with the horse that will give them the best and safest ride possible. They will learn how to handle firearms safely, on and off the horse. Pony Express riding will be demonstrated: mailbag hand-offs and saddle-to-ground and ground-to-saddle quick horse exchanges.

5. A local Shuswap Cowboy will demonstrate the “laying down of a wild horse” with a First Nations’ Chant.

6. Outlaws ride to the Historic Ranch Guesthouse for the night. A comfortable room and hot showers are available.

7. Outlaws are treated to a relaxing massage in a secluded aroma-therapy tent setting, to work out tired muscles. Later, Outlaws enjoy an all-locally grown hearty dinner. To relax, a friendly game of horseshoes, poker and lariat practise is available.

8. A campfire evening of entertainment and refreshments will be available.

Day 4

  • A Ranch breakfast will precede the Fast Gun Draw instruction.

At the ranch, Outlaws meet the Photography crew for the movie shoot and stills. Then ride to a location in the Sagebrush to lay in wait to rob the Stagecoach of its strongbox. Outlaw escape to the hoodoos and divide the loot.

3. Then the Outlaws are given an overview of the on-horse dialogue and gun action that takes place outside the train, along with a walk-through of the key elements of the outside action. Safety issues and questions are addressed and resolved.

An on-board train rehearsal is held where outlaws are familiarized with every aspect of the 2141 Steam Locomotive and the passenger cars for safety. Outlaws are taught their “marks” and scripted dialogue and are rehearsed for the up-coming live train robbery performance.

4. After the rehearsal, outlaw horses are ridden to the river for watering. While the horses feed on the grass, snacks and beverages are served beside the South Thompson River.
